Suggested Specification for Megatite Service Fittings

• Scope:

  Specification for Megatite composite style Corporation Mainstop/Tapper, Curbstop and Fittings used for underground application as an alternative to metal style fittings, made for use with CTS size plastic service tubing.Megatite fittings are offered by Utility Supply Corporation, Kitchener, Ontario. Canada.

• Material:

  Megatite bodies are injection molded from glass-filled reinforced nylon resin to achieve high mechanical strength, balanced stiffness with toughness, high temperature performance and abrasion resistance for our demanding applications in the Waterworks Industry.

• All Megatite connections are made for CTS size plastic tubing and require an insert stiffener on assembly.

• Components in contact with the waterway are NSF-61 approved for use with potable water and comply with pertaining AWWA standards.

• All gaskets and seals are NBR NSF approved rubber/ Optional EPDM

• All components are corrosion-resistant.

• All valve bodies have a heavy cross-section design for buried application.

• Tapper (Main Stop):

  Tapper designed as a cutter and mainline isolation valve combined. Cutter is made from 304 Stainless Steel with internal rings inside the cutter to retain the coupon upon retraction.

• Tapper comes factory-installed on a Saddle for ease of installation and to eliminate possibility of leaking between valve and saddle. Swivel connection allows consistent alignment of service pipe.

• Push-Fit with positive stop yet removable connection. No wrench tightening of the connection is required to secure the service pipe.

• Heavy wall construction designed for 300psi operating pressure with a 2:1 safety factor and a burst pressure exceeding the pipe rating (at 750 psi AquaPure ¾”).

• Full flow waterway.

• Curb Stop:

  Push-Fit with positive stop yet removable connection. No wrench tightening of connection is required to secure the service pipe.

• Heavy wall construction designed for 300psi operating pressure with 2:1 safety factor and a burst pressure exceeding the pipe rating (at 750psi for AquaPure ¾”).

• Quarter turn positive stops operation to 90 degrees open/close. Non-breakable anti-over rotation ratchetstyle operating cap designed for use with a standard curb box and operating rod.

• Engineered flat bottom design for proper nesting of valve inside curb box 

• Full flow waterway.
